Tax Information (R.I.T.A.)

The Regional Income Tax Agency (also known as R.I.T.A.) provides services to collect income tax for municipalities in the State of Ohio, including the Village of Johnstown.

The Regional Income Tax Agency provides member communities with high quality, cost effective municipal tax collection and administrative services.

Residents and businesses paying income tax in the Village of Johnstown should contact RITA for all income tax payment and administrative services.

  • A one percent (1%) municipal income tax is imposed upon anyone who earns income in the Village of Johnstown, as well as residents who earn income elsewhere but are not taxed within the district in which they work.
  • An offsetting credit up to one-half percent (0.5%) is available when income tax has been paid to another municipality.
  • Estimated quarterly payments are required when local income tax is not automatically withheld from income.
  • All residents aged 18 years or over must file an income tax return with the Village of Johnstown regardless of whether any tax is due. The deadline for returns each year is April 15.
