The Village of Johnstown (OH) has a job opening for the Village Planner position. The Village is experiencing increased residential and commercial growth pressure due to the proximity to the greater Columbus metro region. Located in northwest Licking County near the border of Franklin, Delaware and Knox counties, Johnstown has an estimated population of 5,300 and expects to become a city following the result of the 2020 Census. The Village’s current water and wastewater facilities operate at 50% capacity allowing for future growth. A partnership with the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority has allowed the establishment of the Johnstown Enterprise Center (JEC) which is the Village’s second dedicated business and manufacturing area. The JEC is scheduled to open in the fall of 2019. Johnstown Village Council recognizes the increased need to properly plan and control growth through sound planning practices while working with the Planning Commission and other local stakeholders to ensure the Village’s identity is preserved for future generations. The current village planner also serves as the village manager and has done so for the past seven years.
