US 62 Abbreviated Safety Study Completed

August 10, 2021 - The Village recently completed a safety study of the micro-corridor between SR 37 and Williams Street along US 62. The Village enlisted the professional expertise of Woolpert and Licking County Area Transportation Study (LCATS) to diagnose the problems with the three intersections in the micro-corridor.

As part of the proposed remedies, the Village has already reprogrammed the signals based on recommended timing by our traffic engineers.

The corridor appears to operate acceptably in the AM peak hour, with the worst delay occurring on the southwestbound through-right movement on Coshocton Street (US 62) at Main Street (SR 37).

The PM peak hour shows issues at all intersections along the corridor, including:

• The northwestbound approach on Williams Street shows substantial delay, due to insufficient gaps in mainline traffic from queue spillback on northwestbound Coshocton Street (US 62) at SR 37.

• At Oregon Street, queuing on Coshocton Street (US 62) extends to the adjacent intersections in both directions.

Level of service at the US 62/SR 37 is failing earning an “F”.
